Other stoves of this type that I've seen or used don't, and as stated, the solid fuel tablets CAN be adversely affected by wind, so seems to be a practical feature. If I had access to fuel tabs that don't STINK, I'd definitely be interested in adding one or more of this brand/model stove to my emergency supplies/day trip gear.
