  1. Hello, I live in Bangladesh, Dhaka and I have been watching your videos for some time now... you are really doing a good job and I am learning a lot from your videos. I have a suggestion to make... as u r trying out different gear all the time, why dont u select a gear to be the best in each catagory till u find a better one. For example; for a day hike I found "Direct Action Dragon Egg" backpack to be the best in that catagory. Hope u understand me and take my suggestion into consideration.

  3. In your recent video you reminded people to stop and check for ticks-Awesome. Most people don't know that the risk of Lyme disease goes up in the fall-I didn't. If you do another video this is a great reminder.

  9. Holiday Appreciation Giveaway - BK16 & Kershaw Volt SS - Enter Now
The right size Woolen blankets for me and my kids.

    I do celebrate Chanukah.
This is why I DO NOT celebrate christmas.

Jeremiah 10 (this is the christmas tree described what it means - it is satanic)
1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou artgreat, and thy name is great in might.
7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
9 Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
11Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image isfalsehood, and there is no breath in them.
15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
16 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.
17 Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress.
18 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so.
19 Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.
20 My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
21For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
22 Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.

My fiancee and I are both flight attendants, which gives us a ton of time to backpack and enjoy the outdoors, but it seems like you have a killer job that gives you a ton of time off too! Happy trails! Pete

  13. Hi Luke. Have you ever thought about including in your short series of videos, some bushcraft knots such as evenk hitch, truckers hitch and Prussik knot. Some simple tarp knots that would assist folk starting out in this field.

  16. Hey luke, are you planning on doing a fjallraven gear trip?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Luke! Love your channel! I know you love Fjallraven products and that you want to get your hands on a Fjallraventent. Before you do that,I would recommend you to try out Hilleberg instead. As their both Swedish brands and I'm a Swede, and very familiar with both brands, I think there's only one brand that's top quality, and that's Hilleberg. Super expensive, but worth every penny. Fjallraven has many super products but tents isn't their game. Strength and honour to you and your family. Best regards from Hikers Sweden / Richard

  18. For Q&A Part 8, will you be doing anymore car camping videos, at 56 years old, my knees are shot & I can't hike anymore, I thought this might be good for new campers who might not know what gear to take as beginners.

  21. Hi Luke,
Couple of points for whenever is next convenient your end
    1) There are now so many reviews on this website that they can be difficult to locate easily. I realise you categorise them, but how about a search bar as well?
    2) As a long time subscriber to your Youtube channel, I know you are a big fan of Fjallraven stuff. I notice they have been bringing out some good looking tents recently; the Abisko Lite 1 and 2 seem particularly interesting to me, obviously hard wearing, but at top end of a lot of peoples budgets; but you seem to get what you pay for. Have you considered getting a review sample, or is the US availability situation more of a consideration for you than it is here in the UK?

  22. This might not be the place for suggestions but I had an idea for you. I live in NC like you do and it is hot and humid during the summer but I still want to get out and camp. My idea for you was to do an over night adventure where it's hotter and show tips and tricks you may know that help keep you cool so that in a way are still able to enjoy the outdoors. I appreciate the time effort you put in for these videos and always excited to see more. By the way a reply would be awsome if this is somthing you might be able to do. Thanks and stay amazing Luke and TheOutdoorGearReview crew.

  23. Hi, I have a question that you could answer for me. I have a FILBE Main pack, and I'm planning to get the rest of the system that goes along with it. One thing that I'd like to know though, Is the Propper UC pack comatible with the FILBE attachment points, or would I actually need to get the FILBE Assault pack?

--Your Reveiw of the FILBE Pack was the deciding factor in my getting one over the ILBE, so thank you much for that.

  30. Luke My name is Ed Marino and I've been wanting to contact you for a while now. I hope this finds you, to get a response from you would be AWESOME!I am 53 years old and handicap - I appreciate the respect you have for the handicap. I'm also obese - alright I hope I don't lose you there. I want you to know that I really appreciate all that you are doing with your channel, I use to be an avid hiker when I was younger but I hope to get back to it when I have reached my weight loss goal of 200 pounds. I am well on my way. I've lost roughly 30lbs in 2 1/2 months. All that aside I just wanted you to know that I have come to consider you and your wife like friends I watch the channel so much - even though we've never met. You have brought back in me a hunger for the outdoors that has been missing for a very long time. I have a goal -a dream really, to be able to hike the John Muir trail - not the whole 211 miles just the section that runs through Yosemite valley maybe to Mount Whitney. How about you do you think you might hike it yourself someday, or have you already. If not and you want to come to the Pacific Coast I'd love to join you, if I am able. Thanks so much for all that you are doing and by the way you have an AWESOME family!

  38. I have the new cold weather military modular sleep system (with the ACU pattern gortex bivvy) you can try out if you haven't already. I like your videos more than black scout survival, preparedmind101 and many of the other gear reviewers. Most because you speak very well and don't have annoying mannerisms. Us military instructors can't stand "ums" and "Uhs".

  44. Hey luke! I would like to see a subscriber overnighter, meaning you get all the subscribers that can make it together, and we all go out on an overnight backpacking trip. We can meet and greet, exchange stories and just enjoy the outdoors. I would make it a trail in the pisgah NF or GSMNP area. Keep up the awesome work and shoot me a message sometime so we can meet up now that I live in your neighborhood! Now that I am retired out of the military and am trying to build my channel with content, currently I am trying to do an overnighter per week, and explore the waterfalls in the WNC area.

  57. Luke, do you know how to build a Dakota Fire Pit? In summary, it's an underground fire for stealth situations. Maybe a new stealth camping video with a Dakota Fire Pit?! Essentially it consists of digging 3 earth plugs out of the ground. The center is the Fire Pit and 2 on each side connecting by tunnel underground. 1 is for exhaust and the other for oxygen. This Fire method is taught in E&E training, and seems like an easy concept, however it's got to be just right to create a vacuum to self feed oxygen. Thoughts?!
