Fjallraven Packbags - Preview

This is the preview for the Fjallraven Packbags.

http://www.fjallraven.us/products/packbags

Retail $30.00

These come in two different color schemes:
Vivid which is very colorful and earth tones.

Measure them :
Product Details

Colourful packbags in polyester fabric keep order in your backpack. Drawcord closure.

A set of four packbags. Three colored bags and one meshbag. Meshbag also useful for washing and melting snow.

Sizes and details

Width: 40 cm
Weight: total 3.6oz for all 5 bags.  .8 each

Package is 6inches 4 inches and contains 4 larger sized bags.

The larger bags are 11.5 inches wide and 25.5 inches long

Consumer Material: Other Material
Outer material: Polyester PU-coated

Each one of these 4 pouches have a purpose in my pack. Once you familiarize yourself with color coding what each one holds it makes everything much easier to find all the little odds and ends you normally have floating around in your pack.

I will be using these in the future with our overnight adventures.  You all have seen the Vaultz mesh bags that i use but theses are much, much bigger.

Three of the bags are made from supple nylon with a printed logo on the side. One is a mesh bag that gives a good overview of the content. The mesh bag can also be used as a laundry bag to "spin-dry" wet clothes in the field or to melt snow during a winter trek. Small sticks and debris stay in the mesh bag leaving you with cleaner melted snow.

Nalgene Tritan Oasis Canteen - Review

Today we are reviewing the Nalgene Tritan Oasis Canteen.

….

$8.50 on Amazon

Available in three colors; Blue, Gray and Red

http://www.amazon.com/Nalgene-Tritan-Canteen-Narrow-Bottle/dp/B001U03VEQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1417700927&sr=1-1&keywords=nalgene+canteen

Leakproof threaded cap.

Made from Eastman Tritan copolyester that is manufactured without BPA. Resistant to staining and retaining odor.

32 oz narrow-mouth

Weight : 4.6oz

A standard issue military canteen weighs : 5oz

Get Canteen Cup :

No plastic taste to it at all after washing it and using it for the first time. In contrast, my army one has always had some plastic-ish type flavor to the water ever since it was new. This canteen is the same shape and size as the military version and as such fits right into the canteen cup and holder.

The benefits of a clear canteen is that you can see exactly how much water you have left.

Also you can easily see if the canteen needs to be cleaned.

As for improvements, I’d like to see nalgene include measuring lines into the plastic.  That would be a beneficial super easy thing to do.

Works with canteen cups and pouches.

After The Camp: Drenched - Military SurplusOvernight Adventure II

This is After the Camp and today we are discussing Drenched - The Military Surplus Overnight Adventure II.

Pack : Large Alice Pack - Love and Hate it.
It’s large, inexpensive and there are a lot of ways to modify it.  The ALICE pack was built with one purpose in mind – rugged performance.  Field tested by countless soldiers around the world, the ALICE has earned its reputation as a rugged beast of a pack.  With that said, it is a NO FRILLS pack.  Don’t expect the posh features and design of a recreational back-pack. You can use the ALICE pack without the frame but don’t waste your time – especially with loads of 40 lbs or more – it is really uncomfortable.  The frame helps to distribute the weight and makes a HUGE difference with heavy loads.  The ALICE pack isn’t the most comfortable pack in the world.
Pros:
  • Built to last
  • Rugged & Tough
  • Versatile
  • 2 sizes (both sizes mount on the same frame)
  • Proven by 1000s of soldiers in the field
  • Very affordable
Cons:
  • Not the most comfortable pack on the market
  • Old school metal adjusters and closures
  • No easy access pockets for bottles, etc.

Tarp : USMC Field Tarp - Shelf setup - provided exactly what I needed in terms of coverage and protection from the elements.  Naturally with the materials and the rain, it did begin to absorb moisture and was one saggy shelter by morning.  When packing everything up to head out of the woods it weighed at least 2x as much because of water.

Sleeping Bag : Intermediate bag, part of the modular sleep system

Sleeping Pad : I know that at least a few people remembered were I found this pad.  Laying in the woods along the Appalachian Trail.

Bivy : USMC 3 Season Improved Bivy - Great bivy especially if you can find one for a good price.  For people who hate bugs having the integrated mesh is very much appreciated.  Kept me nice and dry through out the night and added a few degrees of warmth.

Knife : Gerber LMF II - Coyote Brown, runs about $63. Includes a good sheath with has a built in sharpener. I’ve read stories about pilots using this knife in Iraq to bust out the windows of crashed helicopters.  This is not a good wood processing knife and really has military applications in mind.  For backpacking, camping, bushcraft and so on, I would go with something else.

Cookset : Yugoslavian Mess Kit This is a great bit of military surplus that you can pick up on the cheap.  I have a video on this if you haven’t seen it already.
You have the stainless steel spoon, fork, kind which also include bottle opener and can opener.
Small cup, bowl, and pot with a canteen.

Poncho : German Snow Poncho

Food : Drytech Real Turmat reindeer meal.  Reindeer is caribue.  Sadly it is going to be very difficult to find these in the us.  I contacted the company and they said that they do not sale their products here.  The only chance we have to get our hands on them is to have them imported from Europe.    Absolutely amazing so far.  I can’t wait to have another one.

Clothing : Typically everyday clothing for myself.  Fjallraven Pants, old navy active shirt, wool socks, mammut fleece.

Weather : As you all saw in the video my area was forecasted with a winter storm, heavy wet snow with about 7 inches of accumulation.  That isn’t what we got.  Instead of snow we received about half an inch of rain that night.  Work up in the morning and it had turned to snow but almost immediately turned back into rain.

Behind the Scenes : While I loved this trip what i didn’t love was fighting the moisture while filming.  The cameras were fogging up, getting wet and by the end of the adventure i was irritated.

Fjallraven Poncho - Preview and Test

Today we are taking a look at the Fjallraven Poncho.

These run around $123 dollars if you can find them in the United States.  These are much easier to find outside of the country.

I picked this one up at theclymb.com for $50 and it has been a fantastic purchase.  I enjoy hiking and backpacking in the rain and this poncho does a great job at keeping me nice and dry.

Material: 100% polyamide based Hydratic - breathability 5000g/m²/24h and waterproofness 5000mm
Snaps on the side

Unisex

Weight: 391g or 13.7 oz
Length from the shoulder : 48.4 inches or 123 centimeters

My experiences :
I have used this poncho roughly 20 or 30 times over the years and it’s my go to poncho for most conditions.  Some times I wear it as a wind block, some times in the snow but mostly in the rain.

I’m worn it in all conditions and it really performs well.
Light rain, no problem
Heavy rain, no problem.

It is like most ponchos and rain jackets, it’s breathable but if you’re in the pouring rain and you’re walking around, some condensation will gather on the inside.  If you’re hiking long enough you may get damp but you won’t get wet.

For a poncho that is about as good as it gets.  Never have I had this poncho fail and that says a lot.  Many others have.

For $123 I have to admit that is expensive.  Really, Really expensive and you have to decide if it’s worth the price.  For the $50 that I paid for mine, I couldn’t be happier.

Very light weight, quick to dry.

Fjallraven seems to have a new version of this poncho available outside of the USA if you go looking for one, it may look slightly different.

This underestimated functional garment should always be included in your equipment when you are out in the wilderness. The poncho has many areas of use. It can naturally be used when it rains, it is just a matter of throwing the poncho over yourself and your backpack. However, a poncho can also be used as a tarp, wind sack or to cover your sleeping bag when sleeping under the stars. It is useful during your day-to-day activities, when commuting to and from work, when you are biking or when you are at outdoor concerts. Add a pair of chaps if you want to have more protection for your legs.  Height (measured from the shoulder): 112 cm Length (from one side to another): 135 cm

FILBE Assault Pack VS FILBE Corpsman Assault Pack

You asked for it and now you'll get it.  Today on The Outdoor Gear Review we are comparing the FILBE Assault Pack to the FILBE Corpsman Assault Pack.  They are similar but ultimately very different systems and we are looking at the distinctions now.

Platypus SoftBottle 0.5L - Review

Today we are reviewing the Platypus SoftBottle 0.5L.

http://www.amazon.com/Platypus-Soft-Bottle-Closure-1-Liter/dp/B008W0I9UI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1414765196&sr=8-4&keywords=platypus

16oz or half a liter.

$7.95 on amazon.

Multiple Colors; Blue, Grape, Gray, Red, Mountain, Tree,

Capacity 17 fl. oz / 0.5 liters

Weight 0.8 oz / 22 g

The good thing about these bags is that they can be froze without fear of being broken.  Just fill it 1/2 to 3/4 full and put in the freezer without the cap.

Pro-Tip : Be careful not to lose the cap!  You can buy replacements but since they aren’t attached, it’s possible lose it. I’ve read that a soda bottle cap is a good replacement but I can’t confirm that.

The bottle is great-- compact, sturdy, and reliable

Perfect for easy carry in a chest rig such as the Hill People Gear Kit Bag or the Ribz pack.

It’s a nice way to carry hydration with you without becoming bulky or weighing you down.

No issues with leaking around the cap or leaking from the bag either.

Vargo Titanium Triad XE T-207 Review

Vargo Titanium Triad XE T-207

$29.47

  • Compact design and retractable top and bottom legs make it easy to pack
  • Fits any size pot
  • duel fuel : solid or denatured alcohol
  • Very fuel efficient
  • Boils two (16oz) cups of water in approximately 6 minutes
  • Weight: 1.5 oz

Specifications
Weight              Size                     Burn Time
1.5 ounces        3.9"D x 1.2"H        15 minutes (alcohol)
(42 grams)        (99 x 30 mm)

multiple fuel capacity
all season use
legs

TRIAD XE MULTI-FUEL STOVE
model # T-207

#1. It holds limited amounts of fuel.

#2. Difficult to fuel up.

#3. Priming is finicky.

#4. Doesn't stay lit.

#5. Due to the prongs which hold your pot/cup, it will not hold a rounded bottle cup such as this GSI stainless steel cup.  It just flops around.  Also if you use a canteen cup, it will be unstable.

Obviously from my complaints you can tell I'm a big fan of the Trangia system. For about the same price you can get the Trangia Mini, which gives you an ENTIRE COOKING SYSTEM (burner, stand, windscreen, pot, pan, clamp), not just the burner and stand. And on top of that, Trangia gives you greater reliability, heat control (you can actually cook, not just boil), fuel storage (burner cap screws on, save unused fuel), greater fuel capacity, easier refueling, and fuss-free operation. OR BETTER YET, build your own alcohol stove for the cost of a few cans of beer/soda.

The Rucas is also a terrific alcohol stove in which you may want to consider.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION : I would suggest passing on this stove.  Yes it’s light weight but it has some fairly serious issues that have the potential to cost you time and money.  Time to prime, cool, refill, repeat.  Money : More fuel to get it primed than with other stoves.

I would only recommend this stove if you are always backpacking alone and wouldn’t heat more than 16 oz or water.  If you know that is you, this could be the stove for you.

For myself even though I do most of my backpacking alone, this isn’t the ultralight stove for me.  It has too many faults for my liking.

I do thank Vargo for sending us this stove.  We had a viewer ask about it and they offered to send us one.  Hopefully the issues that I have shared will inspire an updated version in the future.

Merit Shok Mini Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Review

Today we take a look at the Merit Shok Mini Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L271V8K

$31.99 on Amazon

Three Colors :

Blue and white
Green
Red and white

The feel and the quality of the product is great and I’m impressed with it.
On the weekends I walk with my friends and my kids and we often listen to documentaries and different pod casts.  Often times the speakers on our phones isn’t loud enough for all of us to make out what is being said and this solves the problem.

  • Rugged and Compact design with ultra portability, an optimal mini speaker for both outdoor and indoor
  • Solid zinc alloy surrounded amplifier, enhanced bass, pumping out 360-degree clear and powerful sound
  • Outstanding connection range of up to 100 feet with latest CSR Bluetooth V.4.0(fully backward compatible)
  • Rechargeable polymer battery enjoys up to 10 hours of uninterrupted wireless play on a single charge
  • Package includes: Merit™ Portable Bluetooth Speaker, Bike Holder, Carabiner, Rain Bonnet, Micros-USB Charging Cable, Aux Cable, Lanyard and User Manual

What immediately got my attention is this one is in a holder that is designed to clamp to handlebars. It's detachable from that, and ships with a D ring and a blue lanyard, so this is clearly designed for people on the go.

Included with the speaker is a USB to Micro USB charging cable, a rain bonnet, bike mount, neck lanyard, and carabiner clip. The bike mount easily attaches to many but not all handlebars. If you have a thicker carbon fiber handlebar, this will probably not fit.

A cool feature is that this can play music from a Micro SD card. And if you group your music into different folders, you can switch between folders. This is a much nicer method to playing music because it gives you more control over what music will be played if you're using the memory card. This is also great if you don't have a bluetooth device around to connect to. Now you can always have muisc as long as you've got some loaded onto the memory card.

This is NOT waterproof or even water resistant. The directions expressly state to keep it away from water. It comes with a small pouch to put it in if it rains--but that's just an extra item I have to remember to bring with me.

Impressions :

I've had this for almost a month now use it everyday. Works great!
Very loud with impressive bass considering the size.
Audio quality is excellent.
Reception hasn’t been an issue.  Works within a 15ft radius.
Pairs with iOS and Android very easily.  Simple locate it under your bluetooth settings, connect to it and go.

While this can be used as a sort of external speaker and mic for phone calls, I haven’t tested this feature.

Merit claims ten hours of battery life and this is accurate.

One the device you can pause and play your tracks and you can skip or go back.
To turn the volume up or down, simple press and hold the up or down button.
To skip a track or to go back, hit the button once in the desired direction.

The feel and the quality of the product is great and I’m impressed with it.
On the weekend I walk with my friends and my kids and we often listen to documentaries and different pod casts.  Often times the speakers on our phones isn’t loud enough for all of us to make out what is being said and this solves the problem.

Just clip it on or shove it in your bag and enjoy.  You can either control it from you phone or from the speaker.

After the Camp - Falling Leaves Overnight Adventure

This is After the Camp - Falling Leaves Overnight Adventure.
Let's go over the gear and discuss the trip.
….

The Trip : This trip was everything that I needed psychologically and spiritually.  It was beautiful.  It was an adventure and I was able to say good bye to Susan’s mom in my own way.  Since she passed I haven’t been able to do that; I’ve had to be strong for my wife and for my kids so this gave me the chance to shed a tear and press on.

The Gear : - You will notice that with this trip I used a lot of custom made gear and this allowed me to go lighter weight and assisted with a higher degree of comfort.
Yes custom made items are expensive but when you love to get outdoors most people want to get the best gear that they can.

ZPack Arc Blast Pack (16.5oz) - I am super impressed with this pack.  Extremely comfortable especially considering that it was made to order.  That’s the nice thing about getting a handmade, personalized pack made because you can get it to fit your body PERFECTLY!  Plenty of room and basically it’s a large rucksack.  There are no pockets and I like that.  Much rather have all of my gear in a centralized location than have it spread throughout a pack in a bunch of pockets.    That way I always know where my gear is at.

hyper lite mountain gear flat tarp.  8’6 x8.6 cube fiber tarp (9.5oz with guy lines)
Set up was storm mode.  With storm mode, you have a simple setup that can withstand even the harshest environments.  It works just as well in the woods as it does on top of a mountain that lacks trees.  You can easily use a trekking pole for the front and go from there.  With the front door, angle it away from the wind and if winds are blowing from all directions, cover the front with a jacket, some some rocks, whatever you have.

mountain laurel designs bug bivy (6oz) - This piece of gear offers protection from the bugs in a very light weight package.  It has strings which you can string out so that it doesn’t lay on your sleeping bag and your face or if you’re just bivying it on a mountain, you don’t have to.

humangear Uno: .53 oz. (15g) spork - Great little spoon spork.  Very strong and they are  right around the $10 mark.  They are longer than many competitors sporks and stronger too.

Katabatic Gear Alsek 22F 900fill power down - 5’6 in length - (19.7oz) - At 19.7oz this is one of the lightest 22 degree bags on the market.  The quality is absolutely top notch and the warmth is amazing.  This is another custom made item so it’s made for my size.  The length on my bag is 5’6 and I’m 5’4.  This allows me to pull it up to where I want it and with it being a quilt I can also adjust just how tightly I want to have it around me which is great for those warmer nights.
This quilt comes with strings which allow you to run them underneath of your sleeping pad so that when you move, the sleeping pad doesn’t go with it.  SUPER NICE feature!  It’s easy to say that’s not a big deal but anyone who has spent some time out and about with a sleeping bag will tell you, tossing and turning in your sleep only to wake with your bag all twisted sucks.

Vanquest Husky organizer continues to impress me.  Very versatile organizer.
I had everything in it to get a fire going, first aid kit, battery bank for my phone, water purification and so on.

swiss m71 stove - having this stove really saved me a lot of work since it’s an alcohol based fuel.  I forgot my lighter on this trip so all that I needed to do was strike a spark with a ferro rod and I was good to go.

The M71 is a great stove, fairly light and reliable. If you’re going to use one, make sure to have a windscreen!  The easiest and cheapest way to get a windscreen is to make one from tin foil.  It’s also very light light weight.

If I didn’t have a stove for this trip I would have had to result to collecting the driest of materials.

We did find the saw dust while hiking and that made getting getting out fire for the evening going very easy.  Saw dust is nothing but very fine bits and pieces of wood.

This really goes to show you that you have to pay attention while you’re out backpacking.  Look at the land, analyze everything.  When I’m out hiking I’m often day dreaming about how I could utilize everything that I’m passing by.

SmartWool NTS Micro 150 Pattern Beanie Hat

Today my friends we are taking a look at the SmartWool NTS Micro 150 Pattern Beanie.

- Merino Wool (For Men and Women)

These do retail for $22 and that's a typical price to see them at on most sites but with a limited time exception.

http://www.smartwool.com/accessories/nts-micro-150-pattern-beanie.html

To save some money, check out Sierra Trading Post and remember to go looking for a coupon.  Save some additional money on a great beanie.

http://www.sierratradingpost.com/smartwool-nts-micro-150-pattern-beanie-hat-merino-wool-for-men-and-women~p~7758u/?colorFamily=01

$9.95 on Sierra Trading post but if you can find a coupon you can get it for $6.47.

I would give you the coupon that I used but they expire so quickly that it wouldn’t be of much use.

Look around because you can always get 35% off and often enough you can get 45% off of your order.

So with that being said, this is the
SmartWool NTS Micro 150 Pattern Beanie Hat - Merino Wool (For Men and Women)

Useful as a base layer in the cold, the single layer beanie fairs better with fall weather, as UPF 25 protects your head from the sun and a light breeze.

Merino wool wicks away moisture and breathes to regulate temperature for outstanding comfort in a variety of conditions
Available in 5 Colors : Blue, White, Red, Yellow and Gray

There is a Blue one and a white one on sierra trading post’s site but they are available elsewhere in yellow, gray and red colors.

SmartWool's NTS Micro 150 Pattern beanie hat is made of microweight merino wool to provide ultralight, temperature-regulating, moisture-wicking and breathable comfort all season long. Low-bulk construction makes it perfect for wearing under a helmet.
Itch-free merino wool naturally regulates temperature, wicks moisture and doesn't retain odor

Microweight, low-bulk fabric works as a base layer under helmets and bigger hats
Made in Vietnam
Fabric: 100% merino wool
Weight: 0.8 oz.
Care: Machine wash/dry
Unisex Design

So far I absolutely love this beanie and have worn in temps down to around 30 degrees f and in high winds.  Did a great job of keeping my head and ears warm and protected.  I have worn it in light rain as well as snow and the natural properties of wool keep my head warm as well.

I love the fact that this beanie is so thin and light.  Often times when it’s getting cold out there is a struggle to find the right head covering for the job.  Either it’s too much or not enough and for temps down into the 20’s this one is perfect especially if I’m moving around.  If you are cold natured and not moving much, you may want something warmer at those temps.  Keep that in mind.

Hill People Gear Original Kit Bag - Review

Today we are taking a look at the Hill People Gear Original Kit Bag.
Enjoy the Review.

As seen in the Blood Moon Night Hike Adventure :
LINK : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbJm2NfVTGo

Price : $105

To Purchase :

http://www.hillpeoplegear.com/Products/tabid/762/CategoryID/1/ProductID/1/Default.aspx

This is what Hill People Gear call their Kit Bags but I often refer to it as a chest rig.

Some may see a slight similarity to the Ribz pack which I have shown off in the past but this is a completely different piece of kit.  Instead of having two pouches on your sides, you have one main pouch in the middle of your chest.

There are multiple version of the Hill People Gear Kit Bag.
There is a Heavy Recon Kit Bag which is bigger.  There is runners kit bag which is thinner  So on and so forth.

If you decide that you would like to pick up one of these kits, make you you get the right one for you.

Weight: 1.00 lb
Length: 2.00 in
Width: 11.50 in
Height: 7.50 in

When it comes to use, this is how my testing has unfolded so far.
This has been my hiking pack for the last couple of weeks.
Right around 40 miles worth of trail time.
Temps ranging from 60 to 35.

Dry to light rain.

Very comfortable to wear and semi easy to adjust while wearing it.  Front straps are very easy to adjust but the side straps are difficult to do unless you take it off.

When the temps were in the 60s and I was exerting my self, I could feel heat building up underneath the pouch.  At temps around 30 - 50 I didn’t notice this at all.

Naturally if you have something against your body, there will be heat and possible sweat.  Speaking of sweat, no issues with the straps or the back.  Some sweat build up with the pouch on warmer days and with a good pace.

As far as looks go, I love it and I’ve had a good bit of conversations about it while out hiking.  The size of this pack is what I call perfect.  You can carry a knife, a couple of flashlights and batteries, a first aid kit, your phone, a firearm if you carry and conceal and even a poncho.

color

coyote brown
foliage grey
ranger green

velcro compatible: yes

But I would have liked to see more Velcro.  At least 3 - 4 inches.

Loops on the back of the second pocket would be beneficial

The original Kit Bag includes the following features:

500d nylon construction

quick access concealed pistol compartment

mesh backed H-harness allows you to wear the Kit Bag by itself or underneath of a pack

elastic keepers for the H-harness straps

Velcro loop and dummy cord loop in pistol compartment allow for

tmart.com SS-A100 Flashlight - Review

Today we are reviewing the tmart.com SS-A100 950 Lumen Flashlight.  Kick back and enjoy.

$21.99

SS-A100 CREE/XM-T6 8W 950LM 3 Mode Focus Flashlight
Black in color

Smile Shark - ???

950 Lumens on the highest setting
I couldn’t find any information on the low setting but it is at least half of the max setting.

Strobe is very bright

Focus able bean which I use more than I expected.

I have had at least and I mean at LEAST 60 hours worth of trail time with this light and I love it.

For me, this is one of the best hiking lights that I have used in a very long time.  It’s so bright that it literally illuminates everything!

When it comes to durability, I have accidentally dropped it 3.5 ft onto crushed gravel and there were no issues.

I have also carried this light in numerous rains; incredibly heavy rain to light drizzle.

Again no issues.
I wouldn’t toss this into a river or body of water though and honestly, I wouldn’t do that with any flashlight.

This light runs on two different types of batteries;

1- 18650
or 3-AA.

Do yourself a favor, order some cheap 18650 batteries and enjoy!

When it comes to battery life, I consider it to be very good.
One 1 TangsFire 3600 mAh battery  I’m getting around 3 - 4 hours of burn time on the highest setting.

When I go out for a night hike, I will typically bring along a back up fully charged 18650 battery and I’m set.

ThruNite T20T Titanium alloy flashlight.

You can choose CR123A, RCR123A or 16340 battery to run it with a max output of 255 lumen.

INCLUDES : Inside, in packing foam, is the light, diffuser wand, extra o-ring, pocket clip with screws and mini-Allen key, and manual.

Features and Specifications

However, you are able to switch modes by either full off/on clicks of the switch, or a partial soft-press and release. Pressure required for the soft press takes a little getting used to, but does work (and is rare on a reverse clicky switch). Mode sequence is Lo  Med  Hi, in repeating sequence.

Thoughtfully, the T10T still works as a twisty-style light – even in titanium form. With the switch clicked in the On position, you can turn the light off/on or change modes by a simple loosen/tighten twist of the head.

There is mode memory, if you wait at least 2 secs after turning the light off before re-activating. Otherwise, you will simply change modes.

There is no strobe or SOS mode on the T20T.

Fluted edges at the top so you can turn on and off the flash light with one hand.

TIP:  install the included stainless steel pocket clip as it help with grip, bit it serves as an effective anti-roll device otherwise, there is nothing to stop rolling. The clip is not very large, and fairly lightweight, but seems to work alright as a pocket clip.  fastened by a pair of hex screws.

-Pocketclip is removable - Holds well.
Threads are very smooth, the head screws in firmly and there is no shakiness or looseness when the head is not fully tightened on the threads.

When the light is on, turn off the light and then turn on in 2 seconds to change output mode.

Memory function

Keep the light off between 2 to 10 seconds and then turn on, the output mode will keep the same as your last use.
Over 10 seconds and then turn on, the output will get back to firefly.

Hidden strobe

Cycle the “Change modes” for 6 times to activate hidden strobe mode(120Lm,13Hz).
Pros
-Very very well made
-Light weight
-The firefly mode is really very low while the high mode is exceptionally bright for such a small light.
-Very nice texture on the body with very grippy knurlings.
-Pocketclip is removable - Holds well.
Threads are very smooth, the head screws in firmly and there is no shakiness or looseness when the head is not fully tightened on the threads.
Great EDC flashlight

Tip : Buy some rechargeable batteries and save yourself some money.

Cons
Key chain attachment does not seem to be very sturdy.  I would much rather see a ring instead.

The main compartment has a tablet sleeve sewn in the backside with the Mavrik System lining the front. Adding our Mavrik pouches to the main compartment makes it ideal for a camera kit, first aid kit, range bag, or grab-and-go bag. The secondary compartment has an organizer pocket for pens, cards, keys, and more. Elastic loops for gear and additional magazines are also easily accessed in the front organizer pocket. We've used 420 Denier Dynatec nylon, 840 Denier Ballistic nylon, YKK zippers, and Duraflex buckles to create an extremely light and durable sling pack. VANQUEST HUSKY EDC Maximizer Organizer - Preview

Today we are taking a look at the VANQUEST HUSKY EDC Maximizer Organizer.
Thank you for watching.

….

http://www.vanquest.com/products/edcm-husky-edc-maximizer-organizer.html

$26.00

Offered in three colors : Black, Coyote, and Gray.

Weight : We will throw this on the scale once we unload the pack to make sure.

I have been using this Organizer for a while now for many different purposes including ddc and backpacking and I have some footage of both.  The first is with a backpacking trip that I did recently.

The next is with a family vacation that I recently took and used this as an EDC pouch.

In the future I would like to see a backpacker version of this pouch.  For Vanquest this could be a big seller.  A similar pouch but one that is light weight.  Backpackers are always looking to save weight and to find ways to organize their gear.

I really like this for these reasons;

Reversed zipper
Use with MOHL Adapters/MOLLE Sticks for PALS/MOLLE Webbing

VANQUEST offers a number of different variations of the Organizer so if you are interested in this one, there is a link in the description box below for you.

You may be thinking that this looks similar to a product turned out by
Maxpedition and you would be right and there is a reason for this.  Two of the the fine folks at VANQUEST were part of the original founding team of Maxpedition since 2003.

While the organizers look similar there are some real world difference between the two and it boils down to strength.  The Husky Organizer uses 1000d Cordura where the Maxpedition uses a much weaker nylon fabric.

Cordua is also made in the USA and the nylon from Maxpditions is not.

Ultimately there are a lot of differences between the two that I encourage you to take a look at.  We could go on for ours about this but in the end it boils down to this;

A strong, more durable and reliable product.

It’s not to say that Maxpedition is bad, that’s not the case at all but there are differences between quality levels.

#8 YKK zippers (non-lockale) with circular paracord pulls for security and easy opening. 1,000-D CORDURA® with TEFLON
