Many know that I primarily used hammocks for over 10 years and while my preference has shifted over to tents now, many have asked about the hammock system that I personally use.

This is considered by most to be the most comfortable ultralight hammock on the market
Price : $230
Versions : There is the Asym Zip and the Classic; the Asym is a side entry while the Classic is a bottom entry. These days, side entry is the standard and if you haven’t used a bottom entry before it is going to be very strange until you get accustomed to it. Bottom entry is often referred to as birthing hammocks...which is pretty funny. The Classic version is slightly less expensive at $220.
Packed Size - 6 x 9 inches but larger with snake skins and stuff bag Floor Dimensions - 100 x 47 inches Canopy Fabric - Nylon taffeta with polyester no-see-um mesh Rainfly Fabric - Coated silnylon
Weight : Minimal weight is 1lb 15oz My kit with snake skins and bag : 2lb 8oz
...... Snake Skins :
They are two long waterproof nylon tubes that you keep on the ends of the hammock or just rainfly.
When stuffed, your hammock takes on the appearance of a pet boa constrictor in your pack. You can hang the entire shelter without removing the SnakeSkins, meaning everything stays clean and dry on wet, muddy sites. When storing only your tarp, the snakeskins prevent a wet morning dew from soaking everything in your pack and allow you to pitch the tarp first, giving you a dry place to get set up when it's raining.
Review Pros : Very lightweight Extremely durable Excellent quality construction Excellent materials Good bug protection All in one package - suspension, bug next, and tarp are included Because it includes all of these components, the price is reasonable Asymmetrical design allows for comfortable side laying and also, you can achieve a flat lay rather easily...once you learn how to set it up correctly. Very Comfortable with the right setup - speaking of which, for the best setup with this Hennessy, pitch it tightly. Smooth zippers - mod them for easy open and closing. Tarp offers good protection from the elements but you have to have the right setup. This is important and I will come back to it.
Review Cons : Won’t work with all people; taller than 6ft? It’s a no go. If you need a larger hammock Hennessy has plenty of options.
Included 42” tree straps fit trees up to 12” in diameter; You may want to upgrade to larger straps to either the 72 or 96”
Small tarp - often referred to as the Hennessy napkin - large tarps are available for purchase and should be considered in wetter and windier locations.
Tarp is asymmetrical just as the hammock is which means you have to have a perfect setup to be 100% protected from blowing rain.
Because both the hammock and the rain fly are asymmetrical, it can take time to learn how to set this up correctly and effectively. Once you have some experience, you can do this in less than 5 minutes. I want to say this, even if you have a good amount of experience under your belt, it may take some time before you get everything right.
Bug net is not removable
You can put together less expensive kits but they may not be as strong nor as lightweight - Hennessy does have heavier hammocks that are similar which cost a fair amount less.
Review Summary : If you are seeking one of the lightest weight hammocks on the market, this is it but the question because, will it fit you?
Is this a perfect hammock? No but there are no such things when it comes to any shelter system and that’s why it is important to consider all of the available options and make the right choice.

Review :
Easy to setup, shock cord allows for the perfect range of movement as you get in and out of the sleeping pad.
The price is…..AWESOME! For an underquilt, this price is terrific.
Does an awesome job of blocking the wind and keeping you warm. The coldest temps that I have been able to use it have been 29F with winds around 15 mph. With this under blanket and the Snuppak Hammock Blanket; perfectly comfortable!
Snugpak is known for affordability and quality and again, they hit the mark. It works with just about any quilt; my Hennessey, my Snugpak tropical, etc.
Bottom Line : For the money, this is a really good product. The downfall is that it is heavy. Save some weight, ditch the compression sack. It weights in at over 6oz.

Due to the versatility of the hammock insulation systems, the wide variety of applications and variations in camp set up it is difficult to establish an overall comfort temperature for these items. As a general reference the insulation used is Travelsoft with the similar fill weights to our two season sleeping bags. We would strongly recommend you experiment with your own set up and gradually build up to more extreme temperatures until you are confident of the overall thermal performance.
It's a dark green, with maybe some brown tint to it. It has a nice diamond weave, and overall is pretty nice looking.
Wings are meant to go underneath you mainly to keep it in place, not to add warmth.
Foot box is big, able to fit my buddies size 13 feet.
I’ve tested this down to 37 and was fine but I could tell that I wouldn’t be able to push it much further unless you add an under quilt. That was with my fleece jacket on and my thermals. And closed cell foam pad.
With a good underquilt you could take this down my estimate of 27.
I will continue to update you all on how it handles temps now that fall is here.
For the price, there is no other top quilt on the market. The next closest competition is from ENO, the spark, and is about $100, more than twice as expensive, and is also rated to only 50 degrees.
Excellent price
Is this quilt the best on the market? Will this be the last quilt you ever own? No, not really. However this is still an absolutely amazing deal for a quilt, and should last for years if cared for
Down quilts work better but are expensive. this will serve the same function and has anti-microbial fabric treatment which is a plus.

Triple nylon stitched seams for durability and strength
Manufactured from lightweight but extremely strong parachute nylon material, triple nylon stitched seams, folds away into its own practical stuff bag, supplied with heavy duty carabiners for easy set up. The Tropical Hammock also comes with a Suspension Attachment System to make setting up and securing around trees quicker and easier. With two steel carabiners for attaching the hammock connects very easily to the Suspension Attachment System.
Review :
Pros – Very strong, can support big guys.
Long and wide.
Fair lightweight
Inexpensive compared to the competition.
Includes suspension system
Trip stitched
Quick deployment
Cons –
Could be lighter weight by replacing carabiners for lighter versions.
Suspension system will bite into the trees unless you take steps to prevent that from happening.
Thoughts – This is a good quality, inexpensive hammock. Easy to setup, easy to pack away. The suspension system is very basic and not the best but it works. I would advice bringing additional paracord when you are out with this hammock to make sure that you can find a good location to throw your hammock up at.
Price : $100 with out cinch suspension system. $130 with the Suspension on the go outfitters web site
$87.40 on amazon for just the hammock. Comes with rope and carabiner if you don’t get the suspension system.
Weight : 58.9oz for the entire system – Hammock, stacks, lines and suspension system.
14.8 for the suspension system straps
44.2oz for the hammock with stakes and lines
Colors : Back, gray, forest green
It’s so long and wide that you can sleep virtually side ways in it which means that you are almost completely flat. The way that it was designed also means that you can easily sleep on your side.
11' x 64”
1st hammock in the world to feature our exclusive fabric tensioners that I invented. These manage loose fabric that occurs with larger hammocks.
Material; 70D nylon, 400 lb. weight limit.
Pros :
Very strong, nicely made system
Very long Suspension straps – 15 feet each - 1" wide tree straps
Cinch system works incredibly well and makes setting up the hammock very quick and easy.
Very large hammock, big enough for two people.
These straps and cinch are awesome and easy to adjust! The straps are twice as thick as any other hammock straps I have ever used! The rope on the cinch buckles is 1/8" Amsteel which is crazy strong, other companies only use 7/16" rope. I am confident that these will literally last my entire life! I had another set from a competitor and the thinner straps could slip through the buckle.
Yes, the fabric is breathable, which helps keep the user cool and prevents sweating. It is also is a wicking fabric, which in hotter weather, can actually pull moisture away from the body to the outside of the fabric were it can evaporate. When moisture evaporates, it has a cooling effect!
The material is tightly weaved which prevents mosquitoes from biting through the material on the bottom of the hammock. That isn’t the case with all hammocks.
Very comfortable
Included ridgeline
Cons :
Heavy System.
Stuff sack is very small. Almost too small in my opinion.
Tons of Colors : green orange black blue grey purple red,
• 210T ripstop nylon that holds up to 400 pounds
• Two 10-foot polypropylene lashing paracord cables [cordage]
• Steel, Spring-Gate carabiners
• Attached stuff-bag so you never lose the bag
Durable triple-stitched seams
The durable diamond lock rip-stop nylon resists mildew, can be easily cleaned, and won't stretch.
A friend of mine who is 6’2” and 250 loves this hammock
It’s a win.
Pros :
The green color fits in well with the environment
Lightweight
Strong
Ropes are included
Large size
Great price. You could buy 2 of these for the same price as one ENO.
Cons :
Doesn’t come with straps…but it does come to rope
Review :
I’ve been using this hammock for many months now and it has been a good performer.
The quality is good, the materials are good and it’s strong as well as large. Plenty of material to get comfortable in.
Used it in the early spring in 30 degree weather and loved it and naturally, we have been using it during the summer months. Lightweight,
Our daughter spent 5 days recently in one of these and loved it.
This is a great hammock to test the waters of hammocking with.
Crafted with 100% high strength breathable nylon fabric, which is light, quick drying, strong, mildew resistant, machine washable, and so silky soft and comfortable.
Large Size Fits For Most Situations - 115" Long x 55" Wide of unfold size is enough for most requirements.
Easy to pack and storage, it is easily folded and fits into an integrated pocket with 8.5" x 5" x 5" of folding size
Maximum support weight: 600lbs, which accommodates up to two adults.
The hammock is equipped with hook holder for easy & convenient use.
Material: Nylon
-Size: 115" x 55"
-Package demissions: 8.5" x 5" x 5”
Eagles Nest JungleNest. There is a noticeable quality difference, but the ENO is a $100 hammock. That this competes at all at a fifth of the price is remarkable. Overall, it seems just as functional, if not quite as nice. If you have doubts about hammocking or don't want to invest a lot of money, this is far from a bad option.
This is the perfect hammock to test the waters with. Meaning if you are thinking of doing some hammock camping but you’re not sure if it’s really for you, this is a very good place to start.
Innovative heavy duty 1" nylon loops incorporate double box X stitching for clipping or attaching to tree straps, whoopie slings, or anchor points
Extremely lightweight
Reinforced ends and hems
Made in USA
No Seams
You will need a suspension system, this does not even come with carabiners.
Military grade parachute nylon
I like that it is a seamless design here, not that it matters too much, but if you can eliminate a seam, especially one on which you find yourself lying, it can't be a bad thing.
There is a Version 2 of this hammock called the V2 and it will support up to 500lbs
Cons : does not include the tree straps but at this price, no hammock does that I know of.
No straps.
No ropes and that is disappointing.
Eagles Nest Outfitters Slap Strap, Set of 2 is a good set of straps if you are interested
