Impressions so far :
Quality seems to be excellent
Adjustable height
Very tight laying platform
Side Pockets good size
Storage bag is of a good size
Weight isn’t bad considering the size of this cot. Some cots that are comparable in size are rather heavy with some being over 20lbs. The weight of this cot is virtually the same as the Alps Mountaineering cot that I like so much but this is substantially more adjustable.

Negatives

Setup process is lengthy - it takes time and also some muscle. I have an injured arm and find the setup to be difficult.

Large form factor

Not a unique design - when I saw that OT had brought a cot to the market, I was thinking that the design looked familiar; other companies offer the same product and they are less expensive. In some cases, around $50 less expensive but I will admit, the OneTigris version looks better. Aterpa is one such brands. If weight is important, this brand may be something that you want to check out as it features a different top fabric which is just as strong but is a few pounds lighter.

In a world of copycat products it is a bit disappointing to see that nothing new has been done here with this cot design but with that being said, what is present is makes makes a good quality cot.

This cot is going into testing now and I will be sharing my thoughts and experiences in the future along with adventures with this product.

Review Pros

Rather simple to setup
Good quality
Has held up well for with my use
Lot profile means that it can be used in side of some tents.
Excellent for car/truck/overland camping
Carry bag is plenty big so you won’t have any frustrations there
The material has held up well to the last 3 months of use.  I weight 155 – 160 by the way and I can’t comment on heavier individuals and how the material will hold up.


Review Cons :

Support bars don’t lock into place solidly

Support bars can be a pain to remove

Not the quickest to put together; there are faster to setup options on the market such as the Go-Kot

Those with weak muscles may have issues with putting this cot together as you will have to use strength to  get the legs into place. Using your body weight to push the legs into place works nicely

While the quality is good, it’s not to the same level as the Go-kot for an example but it is far less expensive.

The legs don’t have any feet to protect your tent or whatever surface that you put it on; this is a feature that you will find in some higher end cots.

While the quality of mine is good, I have seen plenty of reports of poor quality when it comes to this product.  When you have something that is of a budget nature, it is often common for there to be some problems which may require you to send it back and get a replacement.  Defects are possible with anything but with budget gear, that will happen at a higher rate so keep that in mind.

All in all I like this Cot, the price is good, the one that I purchased and receive is of a good quality.  The design isn’t flat out terrible but it isn’t the best. It is heavy and I wouldn’t personally use it for backpacking.

Review :
Pros :

Truly excellent design.

Lightweight compared to many outdoor cots.

Small form factor.

Can be carried for backpacking purposes

Excellent materials.

Good length and width

Very stable

Easy to put together.

Easy to take down.

Provides lots of support for those which back, hips and knee issues.

Recognizable brand as they have been around since the 70’s.

Floor guards are included.  For this type of money they should be included and I am glad that they are. They are meant to protect hardwood floors and tent floors.

Cons :

Even though there are more expensive cots out on the market this one isn’t cheap but it is made with top notch materials and it is made in the USA.

Even though it is lighter than a lot of cots, it is still heavy at almost 10lbs.  When getting the details ready to film this video I saw a review on Amazon that stated that it’s so light that it;

“it doesn’t add hardly any weight to our backpacks!”

That’s complete rubbish as you WILL notice 10lbs of weight in your pack but; for that ten pounds you are getting a very comfortable cot to sleep on.

The cordura material is rough to sleep on; not a problem if you are inside of a sleeping bag but not the most comfortable if you have just a blanket.

Summary :

I didn’t think I would like the Go-Kot as much as I have and that’s based on my previous experiences with other cot products.. I have military cots, cots from other companies and in most cases they aren’t products that I would really recommend for numerous reason but the Go-Kot is different.

It’s a very smart product which features a truly ingenious design which I haven’t seen before.

While it isn’t the cheapest cot, it is by far not the most expensive.  Cots can be expensive with prices going up into the $300 range when it comes to backpacking models.

This cot is very easy to put together and easy to take down; can be done in a minute.  This is important because some cots can be hard as FUNK to put together…I have some which literally require two people.

The Go-Kot isn’t the lightest but when you factor in a balance of weight, price, ease of use and durability, it hits all of the important marks for a great cot.
