Is the Eberlestock Terminator Pack still worth buying today even after so many excellent military/tactical packs have come to the market? This is a followup review of my thoughts concerning this pack in what I am sure is to be controversial to some.
Is it still worth buying? Find out what I think now!
…
Detail Overview Video : https://youtu.be/oYVYmfWy-ZM
Overnight Adventure with this Pack : https://youtu.be/mc2AKHy2MtI
Link : http://www.eberlestock.com/store/terminator-pack
Colors : Coyote Brown, Dry Earth, Military Green, Multicam which costs $45 extra
NSN# 8465-01-600-5068 assigned December 6, 2011 and the issued packs were olive green in color from what I was able to learn.
Total Volume: 4,100 c.i. (67 Liters)
Weight: 8 lbs 10 oz
Dimensions main bag: 23"h x 12"w x 10"d
Materials : 1000D and 500D Nylon combo. YKK Zippers
Pros :
Roomy - but not as much as you would think
Can be comfortable even with a heavy weight but the pack isn’t perfect in this regards and I will talk more about that in a moment.
Excellent quality.
Can Carry a TON of WEIGHT and does so well.
Durability is excellent as this pack has taken a beating over the years and continues one like it was new.
Adjustable which means that it can be tailored for shorter and taller individuals.
Ability to carry a scabbard when you need to.
Removable buttpack is great.
Cons :
Not Waterproof so you will need to plan ahead if rain is a possibility.
Large and Very Heavy. For only a 67L pack, it’s huge!
Complicated – LOTS of POCKETS
Expensive.
Sleeping bag compartment is a bit small which is surprising for how large this pack is. If you want to carry the modular sleep system for an example, it will have to be carried on the outside as it will not fit.
Because of the design of the pack and the back-panel, it has a tendency to sway side to side and that brings down the comfort rating in my opinion. While it is still comfortable the pack never really feels like it is a part of you which is truly very important….or it is for me at least. When I throw a pack on my back, I want it to become a turtle shell, not something that can move independently with the shifting of the weight. There are packs that allow for movement like the Bora from Arc’teryx that that level of movement is different than this as the Terminator feels uncontrolled where as the Bora is the opposite; very controlled.
As with all products, they are not made for everyone so my question for you all is this, is the Terminator pack made for you?
Buying Tip : Want to save some money on one of these packs, look on eBay as it is common to find these for sale for less than $250 very often.

Now this is an awesome piece of military gear which allows for you to carry the Modular Sleep System on the outside of your Backpack!
…
Link : eBay (Good Luck)
Price : Whenever these appear on eBay, $20 - $30 is very common
Weight : around 3lbs
Color : Coyote Brown Only or at least, that is the only color that I have seen them in.
What makes this pouch so desirable as it is one of the very few systems that was developed to handle the Modular Sleep System ; The sleeping bags and the bivy while giving the soldier the ability to attach it to the outside of the backpack instead of taking up massive amounts of space inside of the rucksack.
Introduced around 2007; VERY little information is available concerning this pouch.
Made by London Bridge Trading Co.
This pouch is designed to carry a modular sleeping system, or act as a very large GP (general purpose pouch).
The pouch can either be MOLLED onto the outside of a rucksack, or simply placed in the pack
The LBT-6130A Modular Sleeping System Pouch can store a variety of different sleeping bags and systems. Outside cinch straps allow you to compress items that are stored within the pouch giving it a lower profile. The inside features an expandable interior with cord drawstring closure.
Features:
ID window
Four (4) adjustable buckle closure
Four (4) MOLLE straps with snaps
MOLLE webbing featuring three (3) rows and ten (10) columns
Interior drawstring closure with barrel lock
Carrying handle

Review
………..
Pros :
Very comfortable for a military grade pack. Not on the same level as an Osprey but better most tactical style backpacks – excellent weight distribution
Excellent quality.
Very durable.
Top shelf materials and components.
Good price especially when compared to other brands.
Duel access
Cons:
While comfortable I would like to see a slight redesign to the back as it could become even more comfortable with some padding. This would also assist with breathability or sweat.
That leads to the next point, VERY poor breathability. You are going to be soaked wearing this pack if you are going to go any sort of distance with any level of exertion.
Because of the lack of ventilation, this is a very hot pack.
Light on webbing and attachment points.

Most sites don't even provide dimensions for size referencing.
Where to find them? eBay will be your best bet.

This pouch also features Specter Gear Specter Snap system that is fully compatible with current MOLLE/PALS load bearing equipment yet allows for greater versatility and easy field repair. Additionally, this pouch features Specter Gear new free flow pouch bottom design that allows sand, dust, water and other debris to rapidly pass through the bottom of the pouch much more efficiently than a grommet or mesh would.
Small enough for use on a backpack as well as your belt for tools and gear.
In my opinion, this is the perfect size for a flashlight as long as it is within
What I like is that it is extra secure; you have the buckle and the velcro

Yukon Outfitters Alpha Backpack - Review
Today Luke is reviewing a 'civilian' assault pack; the Yukon Outfitters Alpha Backpack.
…
Link Yukon Outfitters : https://yukon-outfitters.com/products/alpha-backpack?variant=4128938689
Link Amazon : https://www.amazon.com/Yukon-Outfitters-Alpha-Backpack/dp/B01DMJOY5W
Price : $59.79 Amazon / $79.99 Yukon Web Site
Colors : Black, Olive Drab, Foliage, Storm Grey, Field Camo and Mountain Camo
Dimensions : 21" H x 12.5" W x 10.5" L
Heavy Load Rated : Yukon states that this pack is heavy load rated but doesn’t state what that means. Heavy load? What weight is that? Is that 3lbs or 30lbs?
Without further information that is what I considered pure marketing.
Features :
The Yukon Tactical Alpha Bag is Yukon Outfitters' most popular bag system. It can easily fit a large laptop in addition to all of your accessories throughout its numerous storage pockets and is MOLLE compatible.
• Designed for urban and outdoor environments
• Multiple storage options
• Reinforced padded laptop compartment
• Hydration bladder ready, with left and right tube ports
• MOLLE compatible
• Heavy load rated
Made of durable 600D polyester
Review :
This is a good quality military style pack and the key word there is ‘style’ This pack is styled after military packs; it has molle webbing, looks like a military product but isn’t made to be military tough.
With that being said, for light/casual use this is a good option to consider. It will handle your books, your laptop and some light hiking.
It will not handle hardcore, heavy loadout adventures and I base that upon my years of experience with products just like this.
The zippers are not name brand and will not be able to handle the same level of abuse as YKK or SBS. The stitching and the materials won’t handle heavy loads for a long periods of time either.
While I haven’t had any issues with my pack it has been mainly light duty operations; essentially what this pack is made for.
If you do a search online, you will see reviews which touch upon exactly the same points which I am mentioning.
Zippers failing. Stitching coming undone and so on.
TON of storage options; mesh pockets, velco secure straps, zipper pockets, key clip and MOLLE straps to beat the band
Shoulder straps are thickly padded and comfortable
If you want superior quality and craftsmanship, go with Maxpedition. However be prepared to pay over $100 for a bag of similar size.

Savotta Jääkäri Backpack - Review
Today Luke is reviewing the Savotta Jääkäri Backpack, straight from Finland!
...
Link : https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/savotta-jaakari-backpack/33028
Price : $171.89
Shipping to the US: $10
Weight : Weight roughly 2 kg (4.5lbs)
Varusteleka - I asked the company directly how to pronounce this and they said that it was difficult even for them to say it. haha According to them they have an American customer who said ‘where’s the liquor’ and now it’s a running joke. The truth is, it does sound like that. Var-nose-the-liquor
Finnish outdoor/military surplus supplier
…………….
They do have a physical store in Helsinki…one day I would love to see it!
This site accepts orders from around the world and is literally top notch. Also they have a bit of sense of humor which you will find on their site. I personally like this a lot. They don’t know this but I did a bit of research about them once they contacted me to see what sort of reputation that they had and I was immediately impressed with what I learned. I contact Savotta, the makers of this pack and told them that I was from the US and that I was interested in some of their products. They recommended Varusteleka.
They are highly regarded and review on the net.
Easy returns so if you have issues, varusteleka is there to make things right.
They can process and ship all over the world. When you go to the site, on the top right you will see a link that says country, click that, click your country and the prices will adjust so if you are from the US, you will see the price in USD.
They can process CC payments and in the future paypal will be accepted.
…………………..
The "Jääkäri" (Jaeger, traditional prussian name for fighting infantrymen and a title still proudly used in the Finnish military) is based on Savotta's famous "Kevyt Rajapartio" (Light Border Patrol, a daypack developed in the late 90's for our border troops), but just like the Modular LJK was a step up from the original LJK so is the Jaeger a step up the evolutionary ladder from the Light Border Patrol. The basic starting point is still the same, a narrow, medium sized pack that doesn't interfere with movement in tight spaces or heavy woodlands.
The main changes include the swapping of all old metal buckles for quality ITW Nexus Delrin plastic buckles, the addition of PALS webbing to all sides of the back and deleting ye olde thermos flask holder for a modern hydration bladder pouch. On top of that the updated lid and strap construction makes overpacking and compression far better than before. The end result is a high quality modern daypack that performs equally well in daily urban use as it does on 24-48h or longer hikes and missions.
Features
Dimensions approx 55 x 27 x 20 cm, volume roughly 30 litres (not counting overpacking). Weight roughly 2 kg.
Large main compartment, covered by a tightly shaped flap and waterproof drawcord collar.
Attachment points for utility straps on the bottom. Excellent place to lash a sleeping mat or bag to.
Hydration bladder mesh pouch on the inside against the back. Fits a Source WLPS bladder perfectly.
Hydration tube or antenna ports on both sides of the top of the pack.
Materials
The fabric is the same PUR coated waterproof and extremely tough MILSPEC 1000D Cordura used to make Finnish military M05 gear! All hardware is military grade too, the buckles are made by ITW Nexus and zippers by Kroko of Belgium. The materials, construction and attention to detail are all top-notch!
Made by Finn-Savotta Oy, made in Finland
This is the real Savotta stuff right here, made right here in Finland!

Snugpak Endurance 40 Pack - Preview
Today we are previewing the Snugpak Endurance 40 Pack.
...
The Endurance 40 by Snugpak is based off its Stamina 40" rucksack platform and design. The main, and noticeable difference, is a MOLLE webbing on the front and both sides. The Endurance 40 still has a Hydration Sleeve as well as a routing port for the drinking tube and the storage pocket on the lid. It also has contoured and heavily padded chest straps faced with textured high wicking fabrics. The top lid zippered compartment is a great place to store those essentials that need to be easily accessed. The bottom compartment also houses a roll away rain cover. The Endurance 40 is a great pack for those who have always liked The Stamina 40 and Rocket Pak but always wanted the availability to attach additional pockets for various things.
Velcro Strips for Flag & Unit patches as well as for Name and Rank tapes
Padded shoulder straps with an adjustable sternum strap
Hydration System compatible
Roll away waterproof cover
Durable yet pliable 500-denier nylon construction, strong enough to withstand multiple trips into the field - This is a good material for most people. If you are a soldier and you’re going to be abusing your gear, you may want to look at a pack that’s made from a heavier nylon.
Over 150 MOLLE attachment points
Weight : 3.3 lbs
MAIN COMPARTMENT VOLUME: 2,440 cu.in. (40L)
MAIN COMPARTMENT DIMENSIONS: 19.00" x 11.00" x 9.00"
Three colors: Olive, Black and Coyote
The MSRP: $129.00
This is a frameless pack and for some that may be worrisome but with it being a 40L pack, you won’t be putting that much weight into it.
