Luke I would add pouches that attach to the pals webbing and I would hang extra milatary canteens on the pals webbing.later brother Luke.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I do to ALL my packs and bags and even some pouches is attach a small flashlight to the key fob straps so I always have a small light to look around in the pack in the dark.

ReplyDeleteI would like to say that having molly on the side is the best way to go. I often attach my hat the side of my packs as well.
instead of flashlight i always put a magnesium fire starter block and ear plugs on my hunting packs
ReplyDeleteLike to keep first Aid kit flash light, pass for camp grounds key to enter, in pockets up front, I would need a patch from the outdoorgearreview review,
ReplyDeleteThanks Luke, Lee M Malack

ReplyDeleteI add carabiners to save space. Not much customizing but it helps.
ReplyDeleteI add zip ties, carabiners and tie rope on daisy chains for storing gear.
ReplyDeleteI looks tacky but I always add lower back support pads [ usually duct taped on ] since I have a bad lower back issues. Sometimes I have the wife sew on a pocket for a compass inside with the face showing to make sure I can't lose it.

ReplyDeleteWell I like to customize all of my packs. I don´t look at it just as a part of my gear, my pack is the most important thing when I am hiking or backpacking, so it is my priority. It has to feel right, it has to work right, as well as its should look great, at least for me :) I often put patches, water pouches, and clip some carabiners on the pack, just to customize it in the way to suit the purpose the best. I am a pack junkie. I always look online for some new packs, new sales, and that is how I found about your channel and ever since then I am a true member of TOGR :) Thanks Luke! Strenght and honor my friend! Good luck guys :)

I add a quickly removable first aid/trauma kit to the out side of my packs and it is always red or blaze orange so it's easy to see even if the pack in on the ground in the bush and just as a visual reminder of what it is in the fog of an emergency.

ReplyDeleteI always weave paracord containing fire tinder over all the handles. If my pack has molle, I add a tear-away first aid kit. When I feeling particularly tech-oriented, I lock on a 15W spat panel with grimlock D rings. Cheers from RVA!
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it but I do girly up my bags a bit. Patches, bright paracord wraps, etc.... On a more serious side I do always store a small revolver when on the trail and attach a holster in the interior either by velcro or zip ties or what ever works best with a particular bag.

ReplyDeleteSadly, my Remington Deerhunter day pack died today after 10 years of hard use. One of the zippers turned to dust, which is understandable because I am brutal. I spent the morning shopping and came up with a 35L tactical pack off of Ebay that fits my needs of padded back, tough materials, bottom lash strap, waist belt, sternum strap, khaki color and rock bottom pricing. I look forward to the delivery and then plan an appropriate burial for the previous pack. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Outdoor-Molle-Military-Tactical-Rucksack-Backpack-Camping-Trekking-Hiking-bag-/141743282566?var=&hash=item21008ed986:m:m3kiHTCEYVR_al6KjQE-LEQ
ReplyDeleteRegarding customization, I usually add a home-made nacrabener to keep my camp shoes on the outside when camping. When I'm riding my bike I add a red light to the zipper pull, as I like to be lit up like a Christmas Tree. I also add an white interior light so I can see what is inside.
As far as customizing a pack, The only thing I do is as others have posted is to add a small light attached to a carabiner inside the top portion of the pack to see inside the pack at night time. I would like to see added small zipper pouches inside the large compartments. All in all it is getting the proper pack that suits each Individual. Some packs that have the proper loops you can add weaving of paracord, which can also be used for attachments. Keep up the good work Luke.
ReplyDeleteI love the packs with Molly because you can add pouches to customize for your needs. If you are going on an extended outing you can add additional pouches to suite your needs. Personally I like the water bottle attachment that allows me to carry additional water depending on how long my trip is. Love the channel, keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI like a tear-away first aid kit on my molle and all straps and handles to have Titan Survivor Cord woven around them. If I'm going to carry lots of tech with me, I use Grimlock D rings to secure a 15W solar panel. Cheers from Richmond, VA!

ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great pack. I customize by using packing cubes...they really help with organization and compression
ReplyDeleteI knew I kept my molly gear for a reason clip them in the webbing and add gear as needed, thanks Luke
ReplyDeleteFigure out the perfect fit for myself. "Trim the fat"...trim off any extra length of straps and sew off the ends permanently. Replace all the zipper pulls with cordage pulls. Most likely paracord. Then add any extra molle pouches as needed per situation. i.e. water bottle pouch, med pouch, dump pouches, etc. And then of course add any morale patches, just to jazz things up!! Strength and Honor!!!
ReplyDeleteI like to add a knife and canteen to the molle webbing for easy access.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually only 16 years old and I've never been camping, I'm just writing this to see if I can not win ... I watch you long and I love your shots ... Thank you for everything ...
ReplyDeleteAttachment points are always good for spare pouches.
ReplyDeleteI will always make sure my packs are set up the same way so I always know where things are located. Items I always have are lighter, knife, light, water to start with.
ReplyDeleteI have split my pack in half, So I can pack gear for my 10 year old daughter, I need a new pack Luke
ReplyDeleteHi , Luke the way i that i have my packs. heavy items at my back then i build the items OUTward .
ReplyDeleteI usually don't customize my bags, maybe a morale patch and if the grab handle is not thick enough I weave it with paracord. I usually don't attach pouches, if I do so its going to be a first aid kit, one with the items I most probably going to use and one with a camera.
ReplyDeleteTo this one the first thing I will try to do is to integrate compression straps.
I would add a small pouch to the bag for toiletries quick access, a small pouch in the front to quick access to edc items, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe PALS webbing is great. I add a molle pouch with a traumatic injury ifak and another pouch with a light rope, 100' of 750 paracord minimum, some biners and webbbing for emergency rappel or rescue.
ReplyDeleteI'd add a top away IFAK. That's about it.
ReplyDeleteI personalY like to add an ifak to the molle in the center. I then add small knife to the left shoulder strap for easy access because I am right handed. I also like a small molle pouch organizer for extra batteries , flashlighr. Usually I'll make my own paracord pulls to all of the zippers and a name tape with a few morale patches. I can't then call it my pack. I could really use a new pack, and by the way I am in the Appalachian as well. Hook a fellow hillbilly up. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love your videos keep em coming.
