What are your goals?
ReplyDeleteThis info would help us to properly select the gear that you will be taking. For instance, if you are taking a larger tent, you are going to need a larger pack to accommodate it.
That is true, trap. Though his wife is going along so they will be splitting the loadout.
DeleteIn this case brother, the gear that is available to vote on fits our goals for this trip. All items are here to vote on for a reason.

ReplyDeleteVery interested to see if you can squeeze into the Snugpack.. Might have to convince the better half its a 2-Person shelter if you can. :)

ReplyDeleteFYI. The Golite Shangri-la 3p is the lightest weight tent, yet it is the largest in overall floor space. Also, the Arc’teryx Alpha FL 45 is the lightest pack with the second overall largest capacity. I voted for these because I understand the value of lightweight gear.
ReplyDeleteYou selected the gear that I have been hoping would win (and it is).
DeleteHave a great weekend.

I voted for the Golite Shangri-la 3p, not only because I agree with BuckSnort, but because Susie, the perpetual delight of the Outdoor Gear Review will be joining you on this trip. With this in mind, it would be proper to pack the largest tent of the lineup for the sake of comfort, particularly for the offchance that you two may be forced to take shelter during a storm. Also concerning cooking, there's nothing better than a campfire, but in the event that one may not be possible, an alcohol burner would be a good backup.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, have you considered the possibility of using either a stainless steel tea ball, or better yet a small coffee cloth that could be tied off with a string? Such a gadget would rid you of the SCOURGE of Taster's Nasty forever!
Thank you very much Rusted!
DeleteI will have to look into the tea ball. I have tried the other method.
Cheers.

I know you like your gadgets Luke, so how about something to make a real espresso?

I just got mine and I have to say the quality of the coffee is very good. It's not lightweight enough to go on my ultralight trips, but will definitely join me on comfort trips.
