  2. My favorite knife was my old 5" Buck knife that I've had for 15 years or more, but I recently bought a 7" KA-BAR 2-1211-6 Black Fighting knife that has surpassed it. It's full tang construction and rubberized handle makes it comfortable to handle, and nearly indestructible. It handles everything from Processing small 4" limbs into kindling, to opening cans and cutting food. It never leaves my side when I'm camping. I made a slight mod with my grinder to remove some of the powder coating on the back spline so I can use it with my fire starter. It's now my go to knife. My son will inherit the trusty old Buck when he gets old enough.

  7. Favorite knife. Difficult to say, I have so many - both folders and fixed blades. Of all that I have, a general theme runs through my collection. The ones I use most are fixed blade, full tang handle, blade length about 4-1/2 to 6 inch long. Of all of them, I use most a Grohmann/D.H. Russell #4 knife in carbon steel purchased nearly 37years ago. It was a present from my wife at the time. Cancer took her from me. I had dreamed of owning one, but economics forbade me ordering one. The knife has a 5-1/2 in blade with a rosewood handle, I am on my 4th sheath, I have cut the others to pieces. I have used that knife camping, hunting fishing and what people call bushcraft - I call it wood craft. Another knife I like was hand forged by Tim Ridge/swampfox knives. This knife I have owned for about 12yrs, picking it up at a spring market fair in Goodlettsville TN. This knife has about a 5_in blade with a 3-3/4_in bird's beak shaped bone handle. For a folding knife I carry a Swiss Army Victorinox "Tinker", sometimes I would carry a "Farmer". So those a few of my favorites.

  8. My all time favorite knife is the Benchmade Griptilian (thumb hole + straight edge). It was one of the first "serious" knives that i had ever purchased, and have compared every other knife to cross my path to it. The quality of steel is amazing, and really holds a wonderful sharp edge for quite some time. Although on the pricey side (around $100), the customization you can have to make your knife specific to you and your needs- and the confidence in having such a quality blade is quite satisfying. I've used this blade in work as an EMT and into my career in the military, it is always by my side.

  9. I have two favorite knives. First modern favorite is my Cold Steel SRK Carbon V blade. I had it with me as part of my bailout kit in the first Gulf War. Been on several outings with me until I got too busy to get out camping. Very strong blade and no rust issues from the Carbon V steel.

Second is a Sharp model 300 stainless folder with stainless and wood grips made in Japan. Not a top end knife by any means but it is a knife my father, a former Marine, gave me to go Scouting with. I thought I had lost it at one time when I moved away to join the Navy. I found it years later OUTSIDE my mom's garage in Ohio still in the leather case with zero rust on it! It has to be about 40 years old now, but since my father is no longer with us I take it with me for the memories.

There may be better knives out there and a few more that I own (or wish I owned) but these two are the ones I always go back to. Thank you so much for your channel. It has motivated me to get out to the woods again after being out of the loop camping/adventuring for about twenty years now.
